What kind of unrighteousness goes on in your home?
Consider these proverbs: "The wicked are overthrown and are no more, But the house of the righteous will stand." "The house of the wicked will be overthrown, But the tent of the upright will flourish." (Proverbs 12:7; 14:11) Does this help us to understand why so many homes are crumbling? There is wickedness there! On television, the movies we watch, the kind of recreation we engage in, our entertainment, language, dress, actions and companions. Paul wrote, "Do not be deceived: 'Evil company corrupts good habits.' Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame" (1 Corinthians 15:33-34). Again he wrote, "Denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age" (Titus 2:12).
It is not enough for us to sing "Live For Jesus" on Sunday. God must see it in our homes! The church should teach and maintain righteousness, but it must also be exemplified and enforced in the home.
